Smart Solar Crop Dryer
A crop dryer that runs on the sun
A solar-powered drying chamber with sensors and a controller. It keeps drying conditions in range and records every batch.

Why it matters
Most harvests in Kenya are still dried on the ground, under open sky
Grain spread on tarpaulins waits for sun. When it rains at harvest, the crop stays wet, and wet crop spoils in store. The African Postharvest Losses Information System (opens in a new tab) estimates that about a sixth of Kenya’s maize harvest, 16.7% in 2021, is lost after harvest, with the largest share lost during harvest and field drying.

How it works
Four steps from loading to a dried batch
- 01Load the harvested crop into the trays.
- 02Solar power runs the dryer and charges its battery.
- 03Sensors read temperature and humidity. The controller keeps them in range.
- 04Every reading goes to our monitoring platform, so each batch has a record.

Drying as a Service
We bring the dryer to your harvest
Each dryer stays in one farming zone and follows the harvests there through the year. Choose a region to see its counties and the crops we dry.
